NOTICE – The next meeting of the BR RC Club will be Tuesday, Nov. 1st at the Greenwell Springs Road Library at 7:00 PM

President Bob McMillan called the meeting to order at 7:06 PM.
He requested the Secretary to read the minutes from our September meeting.  The minutes were read and accepted as read by all members present. Bob then asked the Treasurer for a report on our financial status.  The treasurer presented his detailed report which was approved by all members present.

The chairman of the field committee was not present so Marvin Wooster gave us his version of the condition of the field.  He said it was in good shape after the grass was cut and all of the trash from the storm was cleaned up this past Thursday.  Mike reported that he burned about half of the debris from the wooded area cut earlier.  He plans to burn the remainder as soon as he can.

Mike was asked for a safety report.  He did not have any incidents to report.  He reminded us that we need to be sure to do our pre flight inspections and checks every time we go out to fly.  He commented if you don’t your plane could wind up in the outhouse like some unidentified pilot’s did.

Bob had a flyer for the S W Aeromodleing Conference to be held in Fort Worth November 11 & 12.

OLD BUSINESS
Bob reminded us that Charlie has fuel available to anyone needing it.
Bob reminded us that Vic still has some hats available.
Charlie reported that Weldon and his wife Susie are in Boston waiting for her surgery which is scheduled for October 20th.  Weldon reported that he found a flying field about 10 miles away from the park they are staying in and is able to get some flying time with his electric plane.
It was reported that Charlie Dedon and Richard Mason are new grandfathers.
B. C. reported that Mr. Dodson and Rizo from Meterie still have not paid their dues even though they were voted in as members.  He reported that he has talked to them and they said they would see us in the future.

NEW BUSINESS
A motion was made and seconded that we require everyone to turn off all cellular phones and pagers while our meeting is in progress.  The majority of members present approved this motion.  (Editors note:   Marvin got a call from Weldon)
New members applying are Karl Boggs and Dave Magee.  All members present accepted both. There was general discussion about the need for a workday at the field.  Bob asked Farley to ramrod this project.  He was asked to come up with a list of work and a schedule.  Farley will present his plan at our next meeting. Lee reported that our October 22, fun fly is still on and everyone is looking forward to it.  Our November 12 event has been cancelled.  He also gave a report that the Big Bird scheduled in Sulphur October 14, 15 & 16 is still on.  The October 29 event scheduled for Lafayette has been cancelled.  The November 12 New Iberia Big Bird is still on schedule.  Mike reported that Mobile has a Big Bird scheduled for November 14 & 15. Lee made a suggestion that we consider doing something to aid Weldon and Susie while they are in Boston. Lee discussed the candidates up for AMA election.  He said that Charlie Castain from New Iberia recommended Doug Holland. The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 PM.

The November meeting is the time for nominating the new slate of officers.  If you have not been contacted by the nomination committee and wish to serve or would like to nominate someone else you need to be at the November meeting.  Make sure the person you are nominating is willing to serve.

The December meeting is the annual meeting for the purpose of electing the new slate of officers.  I would recommend that all people interested in how our club is run to be at both the November and December meeting to make your voice is heard.
